LE5 Error code "Too Many Tracks Being recorded" - But I'm Only Recording One !

Hi,
I've been recording and have got up to a total of 5 tracks on this song (on a different PC in the garage - or, as it's described in my head - the Recording Studio)..., doing one track at a time, and when I started to record the next one the sound keeps going on & off & then the error message came up "Too many tracks being recorded at once".

But I'm only recording one!

I'm using a Lexicon Omega, but I also have an Alpha, and even switching between the different input devices the error still comes up, so I tried re- booting the PC after running C Cleaner & Window Washer - still no joy, but another time I also got the error message "USB Controller bandwidth exceeded"...

The PC is running on Windows XP with service pack 3, the processor is a Celeron R running at 2.6ghz, 2 gig of ram, and the hard drive is only 1/4 full. The computer not connected to the internet, but just being used for this job.

Any ideas or help please.

Thanks,

Stompbox

That is something I have never heard of.

Do you have both of the interfaces (Alpha and Omega) connected at the same time? Obviously, you can only select one ASIO driver at a time in Cubase, but it could be some freak out with Windows, if you have more than one connected. Maybe Windows is trying to connect to one driver as default, and the other is working in Cubase? I'm not even sure the Alpha and Omega drivers are so different. Make sure you have uploaded and installed the correct ones for your system, and select them accordingly.

Make one interface your default in Windows, and use that in Cubase.

Hi - no I'm only using one - I was trying out the Alpha instead of the Omega to see if it was the audio interface device that was causing the problem, but the error comes up regardless of which is in use.

I tried re- booting the PC after running C Cleaner & Window Washer - still no joy.

I'll try making the Omega the default for Windows on my control panel.......

I think screenshots are in order. Can you post screenshots as attachments?

You can find the attach option in the "Go Advanced" button.

Hello stompbox,

First lets try the basic trouble shooting approach.
Make sure you have the latest version of your Audio interface up to date.

@Jimmys It really does not matter if you have many interfaces connected at the time, it only was a problem with XP as it could only recognise 10 USB MIDI drivers and some times you had to do run a cleaning tool (but that is not common anymore).
I've had like 5 USB interfaces and one Firewire connected at the same time on a PC, and never had a problem.

Lets get back to the topic ;)
To the OP; Are you recording with a laptop, do you have a lot of noise and vibrations where you are recording?

Vibrations could be causing this to happen. Place the laptop on a bit of firm sponge/foam, isolating it from the vibrations that travelled through the table to the laptop and the problem might go away.
Also if you have a tower computer try the same approach.

Make sure that you have placed the locators of your project correctly.
Some times placing them the other way around brings up this error message.

I hope this helps!
Best regards,
GN
