I can never layer guitars together on time or in synch. Its always off by a second. Is there something i can do to fix this problem?

I'm using Cubase SX 2
and just using an old soundblaster card.

thanks alot.

I don't think you can get zero latency monitoring with a soundblaster, probably going to need an interface.

yep, need an interface and a faster pc depending how you will use it. I think most if not all have an output with no latency issues because the the output signal is "straight out" and doesn't get processed by the pc and shit. If you are going to record and do that thing where it sends the signal to the pc for monitoring and mixing as you record then you might have latency issues as the sound comes back to your monitors.

though it might totally get rid of it ... look for a tab in the driver setup i think for the SB that says something to the effect of "recording what you hear"

you could always try and use i makshift midi backin track to play the chords or any indervidual notes to help keep you in time and mute the first guitar track while you record the second one and then see if the two are in synch.
in therory if you played to the same track both should be idential for timing
