You've still got a couple of weeks man...don't stop now!!

Hehehehe...I'll be right back to edit this after I listen.

[:15 minutes later] - Hey dude...you sound like you're starting to get this whole recording deal down. The EQ on everything is great, b/c it doesn't sound like it was EQ'd.

My only nitpick is that I'd like to hear the vocals up just a tad in the chorus. (READ THE 'IN THE CHORUS' PART). The levels on the guitars seem fine in the chorus, so I wouldn't want you to cut them, but if you've got any more room at all for the vocals to come up in the chorus, give 'em a couple of dbs.

Now, a special note about the guitar work. There's nothing spectacularly difficult about that solo, but it's absolutely perfect for this song...the tone, the pace, the notes...the whole thing. Less is definitely more in this instance, and you pulled it off great.

This tune is better on the 5th listen than on the first, and that's always a good thing. Have some stars, you freakin' rookie.

Good tune,Scott!!!
The hi-hats come thru a little much, rest of the mix is good, bring the guitars up a pinch, nice vox ,good listening, emotional lead, like the little piano notes too, oops is there a lttlte piano flub at 2:59?nice use of that tambourine,.Nice Job!!:)

sounds good scott.......

very nice harmonies..........i like the crunch guitars........and the tamborine

my one gripe would be the intro (just the first couple seconds) it sounds kind of like a sloppy edit right as it kicks in..........

nice choruses........good song

Nice arrangement. Great guitar sounds, I especially like the solo delay. The title is a bit cheesy so I was thinking "oh no here we go", but you pull it off. I like the flow of the chorus alot. Nice "ahhhs".

good tune.. my only complaint is the bass drum.. I can barely hear one.. I think it would sound a lot better with one..

I thought this was going to be a Barry Manilow song from the title..

good tune.. At the end I can hear some bass drum..

Cool song. good harmonies. nice bassline through out, nice guitar work, rythm and lead. i do agree that the kick should come up in the mix a bit. really good song though.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies and the stars! I will sit on this one a month or so and come back and implement you all's advise.

Have a Happy Holiday!

I also listened to "my imagination". You do a really good job with the "deceptively simple" pop tunes. Sounds really good.
There's something I don't like about the ride cymbal. It sounds almost like there is a gate on it. The right speaker gets really empty when the drum stops hitting the ride and does as snare fill. Is there any way you can get it to sustain?

Drums!

Drums are by far my worst problem. I keep trying and they never get better..

dl'ed this a whiiile back... can't believe there's no props from yours truly on it...

---> "props" <--- :D

more specific -- you have a gift for arrangement... you seem to understand instinctively what sounds go together, and complement each other. The biggest difficulty for me is getting to a point with a tune where the arrangement holds it back--yours seem effortless.

Your stuff has macle's imagination, and VOXVENDOR's polish. Very nice. STARS nice.

Those little piano notes were a little too hot in my monitors. Really wanted to hear some hand claps, multiple ones, in that musical interlude section in the middle.

Otherwise, stellar, kinda Beatle ish.

Yeah, I was thinkin' more Badfingerish! When you gonna get this thing on the radio? It kinda sticks to the mind. As much as I hate to admit it, I've caught myself humming this tune.

dude, your stuff is great! good writing, great recording, and the drums aren't bad. where in st. louis do you hang your hat? I live in St. Charles (if you don't know, which I assume you do, it's a suburb outside St. Louis.) anyway, very cool to have a talented home rec'r near. Keep on doing it man! It's good stuff.

scott, as long as it's not the LAST song you'll ever do. Very good. Nice tune and recording.

Great job. Really like the groove, reminds me of an Oasis song, I think was on the album before last, a slow Beatle's groove, sort of Rain influenced, can't remember what it's called. Love that sort of stuff. The vocal could definitely come up, or given more presence.

What's your gear, etc.

Macle

!

Gear? I try to keep it simple. Strat, 22 channel mixer into simple card into Cool Edit. Yamaha So3 cheap keys, digitech for guitar, other cheap stuff. :D

Thanks for the comments guys! OOH and it is not my last song ever.. No Way! I am addicted.

OOOOHHH and I did it all on the biggest piece of shit computer ever. Its an old HP 433 that has several hardware problems.. I am stuck with it for awhile..
