langevin/manley dual mono mic pre w/eq.

I was looking into that awhile back and got a lot of good comments on PSW and RAP. It seems like the comp mainly shines on slower stuff like vocals and acoustics but it's good for everything. At that price point I'm surprised it's not more popular.

sorry texroadkill but i dont know what PSW and RAP are. and i believe you are refering to the langevin vocal combo not the dual mono mic pre.(the dual pre has no comp)
 
there is a link to it in my initial post,check it out. it seems like a good bang for the buck.
 
This pre is pretty hot over at gearslutz, but aparently it is very colored and because it is so colored, many people feel it's not a good choice for someone's first and only good pre. If you are going to stack a bunch of tracks with one pre it's a good idea to keep it on the clean side of things, so this doesn't make the dual vocal combo a priority for most home recordists. That's probably why you don't hear peple raving about it much here.
 
I agree - The thing kicks serious a$$, but it's not one that you "always" have plugged in...
