I can see this is going to be tough if you are not going to pay attention to my "pro" humor and sarcasm....

You said:
I'm going to stick another offering in the MP3 Clinic.

I said:
The MP3 Gods will be happy.
Do you stick it (the offering) with a knife?
Take better aim this time (when you stick the offering)...I'm sure you can improve your 50% success rate.

That's what I was "babbling" about (I caught that line before you did your edit).

I see your English comprehension has its moments...I'll write slower for you from now on.

Hey grabbing random words and inserting them in sentences gets no comprehension skill points :)

But yes it was an attempt...and yes I didn't spot it at first...so deuce

And no one is "mocking" the OP....at least not any more than you were doing in the "How much should I pay for amature mixing & mastering" thread with comments like this:

$18.50 or see what you can get on ebay...

Of course...when it's pointed out to you, you like to footnote your posts by saying you're just "having fun".

Joking around and some BBing is fine...but don't play the part of the victim when it comes back at you.
I think your biggest problem (outside of the Cave) is that you seem to have a chip on your shoulder with folks that have more experience than you with audio and/or those that may have better studio rigs than you.
You've beaten that drum quite a few times in the short time you've been on the HR forums.
What's that all about?

Most guys here that you consider "snooty" and "blowhards" actually spend a LOT of time giving out hard-earned information to newbies (FOR FREE)...BUT guess what...they are going to give it out on THEIR terms, not the newbie's.
If that's bothersome to you...well...they ARE the ones that have the info...so I guess you need to just live with it.

You can join up and we can all hold hands and sing a song or somethin’...or you can keep pissing against the wind...
…whatever gives you greater returns.

I think the key word for the OP is "hire"...vs....free.
We're on the same side here, this response is more for the OP than for you; I'm just quoting to continue the worthwhile, non-subterranean part of this thread.

When you start promising things like contracts, credits and future positions (at least one of which you are not in a position to promise), you are not offering anything for "free", you are in fact making an offer of some value. It is a hire.

The problem is, that value and a buck will get you a large soda at McDonalds; only the desperately thirsty will take it. Is that really what you want your Big Chance to hinge around?

You can't promise the future engineer position, nor the training; you simply are not in a position to offer those things at this time, as those will depend upon the real label that wishes to buy you when the time comes.

As far as engineer credit, that only has value to those who have little or no credit now. Again, while there are some great up-and-comers out there, is that really the basket into which you want to gamble the future of your enterprise?

If you have the talent and the vision lined up, you should be able to find and hook a managing partner in the form of an engineer with the experience - and maybe even the connections - to actually take you to the next level. But first, you have to find who's potentially in such a position, and then get to work actually selling them on the idea. This involves more than just posting a couple of meSpace links - though those are helpful. It means a) getting an official business plan together, b) figuring out who would even be in a position to seriously take such an offer, c) pitching the plan *and* selling yourself as someone with whom one would wish to do the business of your plan, and d) making a real and substantial offer in the form of a percentage partnership in the venture.

IMHO YMMV 3DBB ETC.

dude I never said I wasn't mocking anyone anywhere, let alone another thread..it was you who said if I had nothing to add of substance..I said I could always mock the OP... like that's adding to substance, huh?

you're doing it again man....

yes I am..that's why I come here..I wouldn't if it wasn't fun..why do you come here?

Victim? am I the one who shouts racist when someone calls me Scottish? get a grip

Your trying to psychoanalyse me? this is laughable

the only drum I've beaten is when one member constantly puts down a piece of audio equipment that he hasn't used..

And im not very appreciative of blowhards with "former music bigshot" in his avatar and calls newbies snotty nosed twerps...you can be in that camp if you want..I hate that kind of shit

no chip with anyone else..none at all, though Im developing one for a guy who thinks he can mix it until he gets backed in a corner, then tries to shout racist and when that doesn't work he thinks by going "on topic" he's somehow proved a point

that sunshine is a loser's loser

which guys do I consider snooty or blowhards?

Im not trying to change anything here...but if some ones an asshole in my vicinity they are going to get called on it..I couldn't care if they're mother Teresa or bleedin Gandhi..

You can join up and we can all hold hands and sing a song or somethin’...or you can keep pissing against the wind...

this is giving me the greater return...just conversing with you is proving more valuable than anything

I used to just go to three forums on the site..I've now found a fourth to hang out in that's just as fun..and it appears to be your fault..ho hum :)

Don't start, miro. You've already got a forum tennis opponent to rise to your bait this weekend. I'm not biting. ;)

rise to his bait?...yeah like he just throws the line out

He is strictly an amateur in this field..that's for sure..too easy lol

Yes, we are on the same side.
And that's a valid point you make...that a "promise" of payment is indeed more than asking someone to work for "free".
But like you go on to also point out...when you end up with a Coke and fries at Mickey D's as you payment...then in reality, it's closer to FREE.

But first, you have to find who's potentially in such a position, and then get to work actually selling them on the idea.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.....that's the rub, ain't it? ;)
I've often joked that I wouldn’t mind kissing a little ass to get somewhere as long as I knew who's ass to kiss! :D

There are too many people that promise a lot of stuff...and then deliver very little in the music industry, or worse yet, they end up with all the rewards and just rape you of your art.
And the "good guys" that can help and be fair about it, are often very "insulated" from the newbie onslaught.

I mean...I think everyone with some solid music could do “well” if they could just find that door to stick their foot in. Seems like everyone is looking for Mr. Goodbar…..

Hey...any time the 1-800 self-help line is busy...you can come talk to me.

I'm here for you.

Meanwhile...look down and check your pants and shoes once in awhile if you are going to continue pissing against the wind.

And you're the wind?

I bet you smell like my wind :D

Awwwwww c'mon man...that's grammer school material you're using!

Next thing...you'll be doing "your momma" jokes....

Just make sure your momma changes your pants and shorts for you after you're done pissing against the wind.

You don't want to head back out to the playground with wet clothes and shoes.
You know how brutal those 8th graders can be! ;)

Of course...if you are heading to the Cave...don't worry about it...there's a lot of pissing against the wind going on over there...you'll never be noticed!

When I find out where this wind is I'll be sure to not piss in it...at the moment it all looks rainy rather dull at times with chances of sunshine later...

btw attrition isn't tennis...but I have supplies to last a while :)

I'm sure you are full of it.....

"it" isn't plural, "supplies" is

So "I'm sure you are full of it" really has no connection to the quote unless you had posted "I'm sure you are full of them", which doesn't work, just like your failed attempt at humour

Tsk tsk Miroslav, that's a C minus so no extra tuck for you from matron.

Take it to the cave, kc.

G.

are you a moderator?

have I broke a rule?

shouldn't Miro take it to the cave?

it takes two to play "tennis" as you so eloquently put it..maybe it's you that needs to take it to the cave rather than stir it with your smart arsed comments, huh?
