Just what the title says. I'd be using it mainly for male vocals and acoustic guitar. I've heard raves about the 4050 but I haven't been able to find much for the KSM 44 when it comes to vocals (I know it's a very versatile mic and great for acoustic guitar and OH). Any advice would be great.

Don't know about the KSM44, but the 4050 is an excellent LDC. Its got quite a gritty, dirty sound to it, and works will on vocals, guitars, OHs and anything else you can chuck it in front of!

4050 - I don't get dirty, gritty at all. Pretty neutral, maybe a tad dark but clean. What you put in.....
The Shure is nice with a little more high end
I'd get a pair of msh sdc's for guitar and The Shure would be a nice Combo

+1

Those little msh mics are pretty darn nice on acoustic guitar.

They're very similar sounding mics.

The ksm44 has just a tad more of a high end bump to it; just a hint more presence, but other than that, one would be hard-pressed to tell the two apart.
