Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me out here.

I am using a Korg Triton Extreme 88 through an Mbox2 using the digital out from the triton going to a C02 converter to switch the optical to coaxial digital for the mbox.

I am recording with pro tools le and using KRK R5s for monitors.

When using the Triton I get an almost distorted/reverb buzzing sound coming through with the keys. If I use a clean piano sound the regular output from the triton sounds beautiful, but once it goes through the mbox digitally it has this distorted quality to it.

Any suggestions?

something is out of sync, most likely your mbox. you need to set the mbox to clock off of the digital in. you also need to make sure that all the sample rates are the same.

I tried recording using the external clock with the s/pdif, but the problem is during playback if the triton isn't on or I bounce it to disk it doesn't sync right and plays back at a slower speed.

I haven't played with the sample rates at all though, that could definitely be a problem. Thanks for the advice! :)

if you're set to clock off the triton then you need to keep it turned on, otherwise your mbox is looking for wordclock that isn't there and may default to a different rate alltogether.
