Hey guys, I am new to this site and this is my first post :)

I started playing the piano more seriously about 3 months ago. I am playing more harmonies because I sing as well (and my singing is alot better than my piano playing lol). But I am not bad at the piano and I actually have come quite far for 3 months (and I did take piano lessons for about a year and a half about 5 years ago). So I really am getting back into it.

Anyway, I am looking for a keyboard for Christmas. I just started college so I think my parents might spoil me a little bit more this year :) They gave me about a $300-$400 limit, but they also said that they might go up to $500 if I can find a really good deal. I was looking on craigslist and I found a Korg SP-200 and a Yamaha P-60 both for $500. I really am into more grand piano sounds, but I will be writing my own songs, so it might be good to get something with better strings and stuff to have a variety. I really want 88 keys and weighted keys and both of these have that.

I know that Korg, Kurtweil, and Yamaha have good stuff so that's what I have been looking at. I was just wondering what y'alls experiences with these two keyboards have been.

Thanks in advance and any other suggestions about keyboards are appreciated!

Thank you for the offer. I am going to be taking lessons through my college next semester and they are more classical training so I am going to try that out. I can play by ear ok and thats what I like to do more. But if I don't like the way they teach I will get back to you.

If there are any other suggestions on keyboards besides those 2 let me know! I really dont know much :(

of the two

I'm not fond of Korg sounds. I think Yamaha has far superior sounds.

Yamaha lacks interface and user-friendliness. Korg is easier to get around in, from what I have investigated at the Music stores.
