I got my D16 secondhanded, and I still have no problems.
BTW, On harmony-central.com's recording forum, there's this guy who can get a D1600, an AW4416 and a Roland VS1880 for the same price. Go ask him where he can get those prices, because IF you're considering the D1600, I sugest for the same amount of money, go AW4416. Problem for me is/was:
Korg D16= $950
Korg D1600=$1800
Yamaha AW4416=$2800. So that choice was pretty easy for me.
If you can get the AW4416 for less than $2000, BUY, BUY!!!!!
It has 2 screens, 4 assignable outputs (to be used as auxes or inserts), motorized faders and a lot of EQ/dynamics per channel...
This other guy recommends a Akai DPS16i for $900. That's a steal too. Also has 4 auxes. But no touchscreen, and 1 screen. FX are so so. Korg's FX are better from what I hear.
Just check your wishes and budget. IF you can stretch it to $1500-1900, go for the AW4416!!! If not, go Korg D16/Akai DPS16i.
