Nashville Rocker
So heres my set up:

Gateway laptop with windows xp
Single core 2 ghz
2 gigs of RAM
FIREWIRED (4 to 6 pin [002's 6]) to my 002 Rack

SOOO heres the problem. Everytime i start pro tools... it starts this hissing sound.. very subtle and it comes out of the monitors sometimes, but mostly my pc speakers (which are crap anyways..) it's not TOOO bad, but gosh is it annoying. Does anyone know what this is from? I direct in my guitar alot b/c the set up is at home so obviously i cant alway mic a big tube amp. Would the guitar being very close to the set up matter too? OR would the firewire 4 pin be a prblem? Just curious

Thanks guys :)

It could just be the powered speakers. What are your monitors? All power amps make noise when turned up and cheap ones make more noise.

When guitars are too close to a video monitor they usually make more of a high pitched buzzing sound. To see if that is the cause just turn off your video monitor.

Do you hear the noise with headphones?
