Hey so I'm going to try the kick tunnel thing tomorrow for some drums. I have the Shure Beta 52A to use, but I figure I'll put that inside the kick. So for the tunnel, would people recommend that I use a cheap LDC like my SP B1 or Apex 420 (similar to Marshall mxlv67) or just a dynamic like a 57? Or swap things and take the 52A outside for the low end and put the 57 inside for the click?

Really the point of the kick tunnel is to capture more of the developing low end of the kick drum.

Your best "punch and close" mic would be up to the beater and your best figure for a low frequency mic would be at the end of your tunnel.

For example, a beta 91 up inside the kick drum and the beta 52 at the end of the tunnel is not uncommon.
