Hi Lads and ladies,

I'm looking to purchase an asio sound card. This is my first time setting up and I have already purchased cubase sx. I have tried to record using my line in but, obviously, my sound card can't hack it. I've got signal intermitently but in general it doesn't work. I've been told that I need an asio soundcard, but not sure which one to buy. I saw the creative labs audigy (which is asio) in the shops for 99 euro, but I wondering if this is going to be too limiting for the future. I don't want to spent a fortune but I don't want to buy something that is a dud either. Can anyone help!!!! Also a good web site (other than this) for purchasing in ireland would also help.

Thanks,

Pukeohontas

Like most folks will tell you, stay away from the Audigy. There are quite a few decent sound cards out there for $150.00US or less. I personally use the Midiman Audiophile 2496 which can be had at Newegg.com for $130.00. I'm not sure if they ship to your part of the world, though.

Any of the M-audio cards would be a good choice, Pick one that suites your needs and budget. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. I looked at this unit on newegg.com. The connections don't look like they'll take a 1/4" jack. Will I need a mixer box with this?

really, for the bucks go m audio, there's no compairson in sound quality, try newegg if your in the states, good prices, great service...

unfortunately, I'm basedf in Ireland, and newegg.com won't deliver. Anybody got any suggestions for Irish sites or sites that deliver to Ireland. Also what about mixers? what do you recommend?

Cheers,

Pukey

A mixer helps all around, but it is easy to get cables or cable adapters to run 1/4" to RCA.
