Hey guys, I've been lurking around this forum for awhile, but just recently created an account. I'm having a great time learning from this community and I'm interested in what you guys think of some of the (very) basic demos I've done for the band I'm in (well, we call ourselves a band, but right now we're just two guys writing together). We're influenced a lot by Bowie, the whole glam rock movement, the Beatles and a bit of punk. We sound a little...Different. We've been going for ages, but haven't really gotten anything done because of lack of other musicians (bass and drums) and some pure and simple laziness on our parts.

Just so you know, all of this stuff was done as a -complete- amateur of home recording, I simply trialled Auditions for the first song, went through a fairly steep learning curve by experimentation and liked it so much I ended up grabbing it (and not eating for a week because of the expense =/). In any case, have a listen and tell me what you think. My personal fave is Don't Say A Thing but Listen To Your Father also holds a place in my heart.

I really like dont say a thing. it sounds pretty legit. and the colour society was pretty sweet but that backround hum was kinda annoying. Good job though

Hey man, thanks a lot for the compliments :D. Yeah, the background hum in The Colour Society is mainly due to the fact that it was recorded on my built in laptop mic and had to have the volume boosted a fair bit (it was the first song we recorded and I had no idea about removing noise or anything).

Funnily enough, Don't Say A Thing was recorded through the same laptop mic and wasn't even mixed. It was simply a case of me getting the sounds exactly how we wanted them -before- recording them and then simply adjusting the volumes. I think it's kinda cool as proof of the fact that a good sound is a good sound regardless of mixing technique. Obviously it would benefit from proper mixing though.
