Stopped by today and got another one - perfect condition - $45 :)

Interesting. The pawn shops around here always seem to want stupid money for items like that. They'll have an HD TV and ask as much or more for it than what I can get a brand new one of the same model for at one of the Boxmarts. They're unmoved by this even though they can look it up online and see for themselves. Apparently depending on ignorance and impulse purchase fever on the part of suckers who walk in there.

Then again I did get a Technics SL-1210MK2 in good working condition complete with stylus for $59 if memory serves. The cover is a bit abused - has a hazy patina and a cigarette burn or two on it but otherwise is quite intact.

With Hock Shops I have found that most price the goods at 2/3 higher than what they paid, example if they paid $100 the item will be on sale for $300. I often offer half the marked price, especially if the item has been in the shop for a few weeks, often I get the item for 2/3 of the marked price.

My local shop has a Studio Projects mic priced above what I can buy a new one for (they probably checked retail online but nobody pays that), It's been there for 2 months, if it's there next time I go in I am going to offer a stupid price for it just on the chance I may get it.

Alan.

Yeah - they had it priced at $60 - I offered 40 and they countered 45 so I grabbed it...

I don't go very often but this one is right across the street from me so I stop in once in a while to see what they have.

I just picked it up cause I am tired of having to readjust my mic stand every time I want to switch from recording guitar to bass - well I still need another mic stand but at least now I can just leave it hooked up. Plus it can't hurt to have an extra 57 for $45!

What I need is another mic holder I can clamp on my boom stand since the amps are right next to each other.

I saw a 58 for $19.99 yesterday! :D

Too bad I would have to pay shipping on it.. And it was pretty beat up, but the mesh looked good and round.

You'll be catching up with me in no time Wes! Keep purchasing those 57's.

Sounds like a good deal, and I probably would have done it too. I'm also with HairyLarry- I'm a fan of the AKG D690. Good for voiceovers, and a pretty good stage mic as well. Don't let it go- they're getting harder to come by.

I love going to pawn shops and looking for stuff and low-balling them. I think its funny how they get so offended with low offers. The fact is they might give someone ten cents on the dollar for something worth anything but hate it when you turn the tables.

Where is this place at? LOL.
