recording what?....will you be recording drums?...more info is needed.

You can check out my main components below and add it up using website you like. Although I don't have top of the line gear the price still adds up, you can make it sound pretty good through practice, time and good command. Remember also that not everything is bought overnite but overtime.

Here is my list for a quality budget home studio.

Soundcard: M Audio 2496
Preamp: Studio Projects VTB1
Mic: Studio Projects B1

You then need a computer, preferably one that is used only for recording.

Recording Software...
Cables...
Mic stand...

That should total about 500-600$.

You will be able to get quality recordings if you have a good recording environment and some talent.

Good luck,

Ryan

I got all mine for like, $820 dollars, not including the computer & desk and my MXL 990 isn't in the picture either

Can't beat my setup for the price.

- Emu 0404 sound card ($48 new off Ebay)
- Behringer UB1202 Euro (built in preamps for 4 mic's) ($41 off Ebay)
- Sonar 5 Producers addition ($105 fully licensed & registered off Ebay)
- 4 shure SM57's (NEW for $50 each off Ebay)
- 1 Shure SM58 (New for $50 off Ebay)
- Marshall CD-100 ($128 off Ebay)
- JCM 900 cab ($280 ebay)
- ESP EC-300 ($208 ebay)
- Yamaha DJX Keyboard ($44 ebay)
- Pearl Export 7 piece ($289 ebay)
- 5 Zildjan AA class cymbols ($138 ebay)
- Fender 5 string Jazz Bass ($232 new off ebay)
- Ibanez RG270 with EMG HZ pickups ($131 ebay)
- Peavey Musician amp ($54 ebay)
- Crate 2X15 cab ($70 ebay)

As you can tell I've built an entire studio for less than $2,000 with all quality instruments. It's taken me over two years and alot of patience but I've invested alot of time looking for the GREAT deals not good deals. With the proper micing techniques, I've been able to get pro studio quality sound. You can do the same. Just look for the right deal and don't be afraid to let something go if it gets over your price....just remember you're going for quality. by the way, my best deal was on the drums...how many people do you know that have a set of double bass Pearls with 5 toms, snare and 5 high grade Zildjan's for under $500. YOU CAN DO IT TOO! Good luck!

I've got an audio buddy plugged into an old hi-fi VCR. I use it for recording when I practice, and jam with friends. The tapes don't sound bad. The remote control is really handy. The preamp, and 2 MXL condensor mics were 99 bucks on sale at GuitarCenter. I spent that much more on cables, and mic stands. At the time all I wanted to do was make live recordings.

sweet deal, and great encouragement...

you couldve just said it was all from ebay, saving your fingers some typing

Point taken on the shipping. I probably have around $400 tied up in shipping, but you still have to agree the list is pretty impressive at under $2,400
