Maybe you need a better mic stand, I use Atlas MS25E microphone floor stands with my vox mic's and I've never had a mic fall (knock on wood). All my mic's are mint and so is my Neumann TLM103.

PS... for under $200 I like the Studio Projects C1 and Marshall V67G mic's also.

Best tip about the C1 that ive found, is that the shock mount breaks easier than the C1. Mine broke with an extremely minor fall. It was really easy to fix though because it was just the elastice clamp thingy that came apart and i just opened it up, put the elastic back in there, and pliered the clamp together really tight so i wouldnt have that problem again.

Other than that, its a great mic. (who needs a neumann?)

Danny

Actually, the B2 is a pretty good mic. Can be a little honky though if you don't place it just right. I like mine just fine.

Sorry for all the delay on the C1's. The LA harbor strike really screwed us up. We just got a shipment in that we were supposed to get as a fill in order 8 weeks ago. Because of all the delays in LA Harbor, the ship was delayed out of Hong Kong with the new shipment, so now the big shipment that should have been here last week, will be here 2nd week of January.

What does all of this mean. Well, we are fucked, and so are all of you with orders. All we can do is say we are sorry, but it may be a dry Christmas on C1's and C3's...

The strike is over, but things are not back to normal there. It will get better, but not in time for many of you.

Sorry...:( :o :)

Thanks Alan

Thanks for the word on the mics.
I myself have been waiting for about 4 weeks for my C1 ordered from the great guys (Jason) at Humbucker Music. It seems we all "just gotta wait". sniff...

It will be well worth the wait. I stepped up to a C1 from an AKGC3000 (Down in price, though!), and never made a better choice. Add to that Alan's company's customer service and support, and you're getting more than just value in a mic!

Disclaimer:
The preceeding was not endorsed by SP. I just think that they make a great product at an unbelievable price.

So the C1 BPM Music told me they'd be shipping this past weekend was just wishful thinking? Sigh... I s'pose I'll give them a call.

I have my new Baby Bottle and Sound Room MC-012s to keep me company, but the harem's just not complete without the C1!

Thanks for the update Alan.

Second week in January? :(

Well like I said, It'll be like a second Christmas. :D

So are the C-4's on that boat too? :D

Blessings, Terry

Got the C3 yesterday...hey- what's another $150 between friends eh?

Recorded vox for about a two hours....

I am in love.

By the way, I get pretty good results with the Bhe...b..B2. But I usually have to shovel the 500-1K region out. I don't think that's going to be an issue with the C3 though. Pretty much EQ free so far...sounds really nice with the VTB-1!

With all due respect, Sir...that's what you get for not making your product in the U.S. of A. :)

Yeah, but if he made them here in the U.S. of A., none of us on this board would be able to afford them....Not by a long shot, and he would be out of business. So what good would that do again?

So, just how much are they paying those poor microphone makers in China?

Well, they might be more expensive in that case, but A.) you'd have them despite a harbor strike, and B.) maybe they'd be better made if you had to pay the folks who put them together more $$?

Just a thought since I just paid $30 extra to have mine shipped from Wisconsin to Maine because I needed it expediently to record a group of children today and tomorrow. It arrived last night, and it's faulty. There's something that sounds like a little screw or other metal piece shaking around in there, and it pops incessantly when we attempt to use it.

This is our first Studio Projects microphone. From all the reviews I read, I thought I was making a wise decision with the school's HIGHLY limited budget to make this purchase for the recording of the children. They trusted me to do so.

This is very disappointing. And of course we'll never be able to recoup the extra money we had to spend in obtaining it in time for the recording. Not to mention the extra extra money we'll have to spend returning it to Wisconsin. And now we cannot even use it.

I realize that these things happen...but when you've got close to 200 children counting on you to get it right, well...blah blah blah...

Thanks for the vent.

Julia

Let me see..... you waited until the last minute to order a mic, due to poor scheduling/planning, and now that the mic arrived damaged, it's Alan's fault for manufacturing in China. That's logical.

So, you bought an inexpensive Chinese Made (you weren't concerned about that beforehand?)mic that's equivilent to mics worth 100 times it's cost, and because UPS drop-kicked it to your door, you are whining about SP letting the poor children down. Return the mic, and go down to your local Radio Shack, Julia. They have a fine line of mics in your pricerange, and you won't have to pay for shipping.

Actually Julia if I were you I would send an e-mail to alan hyatt.the thing is he stands behind his product like no other dealer I have ever seen.he might just surprise you.
as far as the mic being chinese made that really has no bearing on anything as chances are the mic was damaged in shipping rather than maufacturing.and even if it had been defective when it was made the point of origin has nothing to do with anything, unfortunately there is alot of crap made in the good ole' u.s of a. too.
if you were closer to me in New England i would be happy to lend you a mic to do your project with but unless you are planning to be in the Northampton area there is nothing that i can do.
really,e-mail alan, you might be in for a surprise.

Thanks, Randy...

Thanks. I was, as I mentioned, just venting my frustration. It's nobody's fault...just spouting off as I shouldn't have done. Sorry. Very stressed at present, for numerous reasons no one would care to know, but suffice it to say that despite the mic mania, I'm sure Studio Projects makes a fine line of mics. It's why I bought one, of course...even though Buffalo Bob seems to liken them to the Radio Shack models.

Northampton, huh? Awesome place, Western Mass...lots of culture happening. I love Western MA...wish I were there! I've heard some neat stuff happening here and there at Fire & Water, Randy. I love that place.

Thanks again for your encouraging words.

Julia

"Fire & Water" has closed a few weeks ago. I heard the Tea Pot is taking over that place. However, The Iron Horse still rocks -- lots of life gigs (every day) and there is even a respectable underground "electronic music" scene which I luv! :-) I'm gonna drive up to NoHo (Northampton) next week and can't wait to get there!

Julia -- why don't you just give some local recording/project studios a call and ask if you can rent a mic for just one day/night? Shouldn't cost you more than $25.- and you'd have a PRO mic to record with! If you mention your desperate situation they might even lend you one for free if they have a spare one they don't need that day .... just a thought.

Gig...

The Iron Horse is AWESOME...what a nice venue. I've heard some great music there in the past.

I'm really sorry to hear about Fire & Water. Why did they close? That nice young family ran it for as long as I can remember. We were thinking of making a trip down to Noho after Christmas, for New Years. But...no chance to eat at Fire & Water? :( Might as well stay home.

Just kidding. Thanks for the thought about renting a mic. I had only today and part of tomorrow to finish recording the children (170 of them!) I had to work around the problem, use what I could gather together, and do the best I could. The kids are none the wiser, and were wonderful...headphones and all! Imagine recording 170 children ages 4 to 12??? Yikes. The sound is...well...um...not so good, but those little ones sure did think they were cool singing with those headphones on!

Thanks again.

You should have messaged me. Imight have taken the day off from work to drive up from Portland. Would have been a good experience for me. Oh well... :) Glad they had fun...and I hope you managed to have a little fun too :D
