Got some of those those mxl v69's for overheads recently and man they are absolutely awesome!

This is a clip of a some metal me and my drummer are writing.

There is no bass gtr yet, but there will be soon.

The guitars are amplitube.

Im frikin stoked about those mic's, finally my overheads sound warm.

Any critique is cool, or if you dig metal just enjoy.

Thanks.

I dug it! The guitars sounded good, I wouldn't have guessed they were amplitube. They have a lot more low end than most of the amplitube guitar tracks I hear. What was your tuning? it sounded like Drop C? with heavy gauge strings?

Also, what was your drum micing set up, I liked it...

Sounds good man. Sorry to say this but the cymbals caught my attention at 17seconds forward. They sound almost fake. Not sure what it is.

Aye good playing also, pretty fast super tight double kik drum there and guitar work.

Its c#, the drum micing is as follows.

Audix d6 on kick
Sm57 on top and bottom of the snare
Mxl LDC on the toms
The v69's in a space pair for overheads
And a pair of blue baby bottles acroos the room, for the room mic's.
All that runs to trident pres.

Thanks for listening man.

Right on man. :)

Im stoked you dug it.

From the pmc 10 song to this. You're a talented multi-faceted guy.

Is that c# or Db? lol
Just kidding, I kinda like what I always considered Drop Db, it is what Zakk used in a lot of early stuff (no more tears, perry mason) and is low and heavy, but not so much as to sound "loose" or too heavy to play conventional sounding music. These days, I am more into straight Drop C, though it is not very verstatile. You can pretty much only play real dark heavy stuff with it. But then again, that is what I like.

Thanks for sharinng your setup.

I liked the kicks alot. That slappy sound kicks ass. Double bass pedal?

Yeah, and a credit card taped to a loose batter head.

Also there was abosolutly nothing dampening the drum, no pillow, no foam..... nothing.

Thanks for the listen

I think it sounded good. The vocals will make or break a song like that.

That sounds awesome! Those cymbols are sound a bit like garbage can lids, sounds like you need something a bit brighter.

Snare sounds just a tad overdriven, but its fitting.

Any idea what cymbal that is that your drummer used a lot towards the beginning of the song? Sounds a lot like the cymbal they used a good bit on the last In Flames album and I never did find out what it was.

Good song.

heavy shit, sounds good, nice playin, I like the drum sound.

Good song.

Its an 18inch Wuhan china cymbal.
Theyre cheap, like 50 bucks at most.

Holy (*expletive deleted*)(*expletive deleted*) damn!!!

You tear that up finster!
I gotta admit, I'm a little jealous at how good amplitube sounds. Wow!!!

Is amplitube the freebie, if not how much $???

Damn, that's some heavy riffage. I likes it. I have native instruments guitar rig, (which is pretty cool too) but I haven't yet been able to get as good of a high gain sound as what you've got there. I don't really use it for that particular sound anyway, but it'd still be nice to have it.

Anyway, uh, I don't really have any critiques. Sounds good to me.
