just getting started

As of now i do not own any recording equiptment. I see alot of
4 track recorders but i have no idea on what to purchase. Its just me, my guitar and drum set for now. I have a couple decent mics. I hate to spend alot of dough, because like everything else, it ends up in the basement if its to complex to operate. Other than a 4 track, what else will i need to play and sing and song and be able to here it back. I understand it will not be the quality of what i here on the radio. But need someplace to start. thanks for the info!
 
If you have any apprehensions whatsoever about using your computer, just get a 4 track and a microphone. That's all you'll need to get going. Start reading these boards and online articles, learn and have a blast with the 4 track, and then when/if you're ready to upgrade, you'll be better informed. Even if you take the computer route at that point, I doubt you'll ever regret your old 4 track.
