Here's what I currently have...

Apple Core Duo (Intel) Mac Mini w/2gigs of RAM

GarageBand (that came with the Mini as part of iLife software package)

• Yamaha DG Stomp digital preamp/modeler for guitar.

From earlier attempts, I have an old iMic that I used with my old blue & white G3 tower.

All I am hoping to do is set something up for the most basic of recordings. At most I'll record a guitar track for rhythm, one for lead, a vocal track, and potentially some harmonica. But mostly it would just to get basic ideas down.

I also have an Apple G4 laptop from work which would be nice i that it's mobile and I can bring it to the basement where I would be more likely to play thru a small amp. The DG Stomp direct would be more likely used where the Mini is on the first floor (and where playing an amp would simply irritate all others in the house!)

I was hopgin to make use of what I have currently. I have a few vocal mics... including one that uses a 1/4" plug instead of an XLR. I also have an adapter than takes a 1/4" and outputs with a 1/8" plug 9which would fit in the iMic).

just rambling... but I would appreciate any feedback to let me know if I can make something very basic work with what I have, or if GarageBand is even worth using. (in the past I recording a couple guitar tracks with the G3 setup and ProTools Free, which I doubt is available or useable with current intel macs)
