Well I took all the advice everyone gave me and did a massive overhaul. LOL Yeah Already.

No vocals yet, but I'm not rushing to do em either. I think I took a little from everyone that commented. So, you may still not like it.

I call this the Crack Rock version :D

This sounds a million times better and I only posted my comment 20 minutes ago  LOL good job!

I started working on it last night. Hard not to get into at that tempo :laughings:

Lol. What's that, around 180? :D

The guitar tone is what kills it for me. :(

Yeah 180, any higher was too fast and hard to play. Is it the tone or the way it's played? Because I used regular chords and on the original it was all power chords.

What band's song has a tone you think would be better?

I was thinking something like this, but more fullness to the guitars. On this song the guitars sound all treble.

Lol. No that tone is garbage.

Any realistic tone would be better. Your tone sounds every bit like it was recorded direct and an amp sim was applied in processing. And that's fine and dandy if you have good software, but this has that cheap and fuzzy direct sound that really takes away from the song.

I listened to both takes, and by far, I like the original best. It's hard to do a comparison without vocals on the 2nd one, but even the sounds of the guitars in the first one sound much more full. The drums sound fuller, too.

That said, I really like the stereo image of the guitars in the crack mix. I actually even kind of like the tone of the guitars in the crack mix - they just sound thinner.

My vote is to keep it exactly the way it is in the first take, but re-track the vocals, and put as much energy (energy does not always mean screaming, yelling and spitting) into the vocals as you can.

Hope that helps.

I'll just do 2 versions. The slow version and the crack rock version LOL

The crack version wasn't really mixed or anything. I just through it together enough to see how it sounded.

Yeah, the tone and everything of the first is far better, but I like the energy of the crack rock version!

Dug both versions, but leaning to the crack rock version for the energy /tempo ....nice drumbs!

I'm starting to like the crack rock version less. It's too much a style that I'm not really into. I like the sludgy heavy guitars. Not every song I have would be as slow. I'll probably go back and re-do the vocals and make the snare a little more crisp. Maybe lower the guitars just a hair.

It's like being drawn between being able to do what you think other people would want to hear and doing what you the musician wants to hear.

Being able to do what ever you want musically can be difficult. Especially when you have several music projects in different styles of music :D

This is why I don't fish for songwriting comments. I don't particularly care what anyone thinks of my songs. I just want mix feedback. I want to make better mixes. I couldn't care less about songwriting. :D
