I actually haven’t recorded anything in over a year and was off in the weeds on other projects. Plus, my hearing has finally succumbed to age and the insults of playing rock and roll as a kid, never mind the insanely loud concerts I went to, working on the highway, riding motorcycles for 1000mi “day trips,” etc. So I’m not sure if what I hear is close or not. That’s my excuse..

This would be an audio but I was fooling around with syncing my Zoom recording to my iPhone and time caught up so now traveling and grabbed a not-final iteration of that. Ignore the video (just old geezers) and tell me what you think about the audio. I’ll redo this when I get home in a couple weeks. Thanks.

Beautiful... Fine guitar work there!
No nits on my side other than both guitars sound a bit rolled off in the highs, particularly the player on the right.

I really enjoyed the performance. My friend and I have a similar setup where I sing and play rhythm on either clawhammerish banjo or guitar and he plays leads with guitar. I don't know enough about mixing to comment there but overall I think it was excellent.

Thanks for the listens and feedback.

Kim’s got a light touch on that older, cedar topped Taylor, which is also bigger overall than my smaller, adi-topped OM, so may need to try a little different mic placement next time, but I’ll look at what I may have done, or what I could do, with EQ. (My recollection is I didn’t do much in this mix, but I could be wrong!)

this sounds real good. Real nice performances.

Some possible changes...

Maybe pan the guitars just a bit wider. Or at least the guitar on the left (but not so much that it sounds completely separated from the singer).

Roll just a bit of low end off the guitars - there's a little wumph every once in a while. Then maybe a real gentle 1-2 db cut in both guitars around 1K - take out just a little boxiness.

Just suggestions. It sounds nice as it is.

Well if you get over the Geezer singing,,,,JK…guitars are balanced really well - the Vocals come over the top properly - definitely has a live sound.

Nice! :-)

Love your guitar playing!!!!! Sounds great! Can't lie, when I read the title of this thread "Hand Mr Down My Walking Cane" thought it might be referencing a cover of 70s tune Rubber Band Man which begins with that line?.
This is so much better, again awesome guitar, vocals fit perfectly ,loved the vibe , performance , very cool, thanks for sharing ,really enjoyed the listen

Well, thanks again for the listen and comments. I’m going to have to dig in to some more Norman Blake in the fall!

And, a “live” sound is kind of where I hope to land, mostly from the time I spent recording singer-songwriter folks at open mics or clubs, and hoping to do a good, honest reproduction of what was captured, without over processing.
