Juno-60 repair question

Just saw a Roland Juno-60 in a local store.

The machine seems to be almost "dead".

It doesn't respond to any change in the memroy patches,
nor to any click on almost any of the on/off buttons.

It plays a contant sound.

The only working option is the arrpeggio...

They ask 150$ for it.

Does it worth it ? Any idea what went off in the machine
or which circuit has to be replaced, as well as where it can be purchased ?

Don't really know the guts of that one. But I can direct you to where the most evil wizards come to discuss their electron-manipulation skills...

Look for "Synth DIY" in a search engine. You'll find links to a mailing list called "Synth DIY" ran by some dude in the Netherlands. If you cannot find it, let me know, and I'll look for the link in between the dust and magic-books in my library. Only they can help you on your quest.

Be carefull, subscribing to this evil list will get you over 30 mails a day, with documentation on facts you might not be able to handle. I had a very hard time discovering all this magic synth manipulations, and it was very hard to escape from it. They go in your head. Sometimes, I still awaken late at night, screaming, all covered in sweat, with my fingers burnt to the bone, my eyes red of the fumes... And occasionaly, I just burst out crying without knowing why... Truly tragic... Don't let them get you.

The first thing I would look at is the battery. The Juno 60 is a pretty old synth - the battery may be dead. After you determine that, you can then look for ant other problems.

That would be my guess too... Ask the shop if you can have a look at its insides. The battery might have leaked all over the place, which could be really bad. Would take alot of time and patience to get it singing again. (repair tracks, replace broken chips...) My friend has a Korg Polysix with leaked battery. Haven't had the guts to start working on it...
