Is anyone using the Johnson J Station for bass. I know it's advertised with some bass amp settings. What's your opinion of it? Does the Behringer V-Amp 2 have settings for bass?

Thanks,
DD

I use the J-Station for bass and it does pretty good......sounds as good as the Bass Pod but only has like 4-5 models.....but you also get all the effects, and the compressor is pretty decent on it, especially helpful on my suck-ass bass playing......and you also get the guitar amp models....for $149 its a steal......

if i had the $$$, id snag my own Countryman DI ....it really sounds great for bass......

I personally think the J-Station may be even better for bass than for guitar.

The first thing to remember is that there is no reason to limit yourself to the "bass" amp and cabinet models when using the J-Station for bass. I've gotten some good sounds for bass when using guitar amp and cabinet models. Be sure to download and install the latest models from their site. The new bass models are very nice.

It goes without saying that to get any decent use out of the J-Station, one must do his fiddling within J-Edit. You have nearly infinite options for effects and amp/cab settings.

I'm a big believer in the J-Station as supreme for budget digital recording. No other modeler I know of has anywhere near the recording features for less than three times the J-Station's very modest everyday $149 street price (even less if you dig).

I got mine for $128 a year ago. Best peripheral gear buy I ever made.

I use the J-Station just for bass recordings. I use a SansAmp Bass DI with it for more options. It works pretty well, I've got some recordings on my web site.

I've tried all the bass amp models with my p-bass and it seems to sound better without any amp or cab models selected

OK, direct is nice, too! You can compress onboard, which is convenient.

Really, though, what I found was I needed to turn the gain WAY down when using the models. After I did that, I got good results. I also got some good sounds using no amp and only cab models.

As always, work in J-Edit.

the J-station is indeed a great little value. I would probably prefer to go direct most of the time but there are some situations that call for the tones available on the J. ....and i agree with the compressor comment..... it aint too shabby
