VC3Q

Any particular model you wanna ask about?

I have a Joemeek VC3Q preamp. Just awesome, should be one of the greatest gear a poor guy like me can buy. :)

I have a VC6Q, a great little rack unit.
The trick with these puppies is to do things with it you would never be told to do otherwise (i.e. drive the input of this thing well into the clipping light, etc....). When I first used it, I was really tame with it and all, and it didn't sound anywhere near as good as people made it out to be. But once I really started pumping signal into this sucker, MAN! that's when it got good.

Yeah, got a great bass sound using a VC3 v.2, after ignoring the recommended settings in the manual and playing around with the unit till I liked what I heard. Warm full sound, with bite to taste, courtesy of the enhancer.

I have the VC1Q and love it. I use it for everything but purchased it mainly for a voice channel, where I believe it excells.

I have 2 VC3Q's that I love on vocals and sounds pretty darn decent on guitars and bass.....

I must agree with tdukex, I've got the VC1Q as well.
It is also awesome on guitar, and bass, and drums as well.
I just love it.

I have a VC1 studio channel. the unit is awesome, warm detailed sound. balanced ins and outs.

i use it mainly on vocals, but i sometimes run other instruments into it. ive sometmes compressed snare's with it during mixdown and it sounds wonderfull. very open sound.

I have a VC6 and I love on almost everything... vocals, guitar cab, bass DI... it rlz!

I have a Presonus Blue Tube and wow. I never knew what silky sounds were till I tried it. Now I use it for everything...especially on vocals. whew...gets me hot just thinkin about it...

I've got the Meek SC2.2

I've been told it's really slamming on snare, but I guess i haven't taken the time to fool with it enough, I usually give up and try something I know how to use.

Question to you good peeps!
If you presently own or have used an RNC, how does the 3Q and/or the 6Q rate against it ? What features or audio operation
particularly appeal to you? Really curious for since I've been here,
major props have been given out by the majority of members here!

I would really like to know how they stack up!

or in other words...RNC or 3Q/6Q?

Thx!

M.Que.......

I would go with the RNC, as it is a much less colored compressor and will do a great job on pretty much everything..... also, it abides by the standard operation of compressors, so you don't really have to fool with it too much.... the meek, on the other hand, is a beast unto its own...... you have to disregard everything you know about compressors to get this sucker to sound good... but once you get it there, MAN!!! it's great.

see, I'm spoiled....... I have the RNC AND the meek..... :D

Thx man! I own the RNC,but been so d@mned curious about the
Meeks! Your post x-plained A/B comparison bet the 2 perfectly!

Thx again!

no problem man.......

in case you didn't quite notice, I heartily reccomend the JoeMeek line...... great channel strips..... for the price, you get a great preamp and compressor and eq..... so I would definitely go for a meek and an RNC....... two completely different units, two completely different sounds!! the rnc works great for taming all those things you want tamed without noticeable artifacts, but for things like vocals or bass guitar..... WHAM!!!! stick a meek on that sucka!

I agree, the colouring of the Meek compressor is VERY usable. I own a VC6Q and when I play bass, I dial in enough signal to turn the clipping led bright red.

The RNC is like the pretty "girl next door" you marry, the Meek is the
best one you remember dating!

To all the compressors I've loved before... (Best Willie & Julio imitation)
