Thanks for your kind words, Dalley. When I wrote the original review, it was the height of the great Alan Hyatt vs. DJL wars, and it was personally important to me not to be seen as a shill for PMI, which I am not. I am also not a big time engineer with impressive credentials, just a small time recording artist and end user with no particular agenda. I dislike magazine reviews that never seem to find anything wrong with gear, and compare entry level mics with top of the line gear.
Since that time, I have had the opportunity to use the twinQ for a lot of stuff, and it continues to be a versatile tool that works for me. In particular, aside from its studio uses, I use it for remote stereo recording, taking the signal from a pair of Neumann KM184's and feeding the signal to a Roland VS1824CD by S/PDIF. It has produced some really, really good stereo recordings for me, and I have had none of the issues with its A-D conversion that I experienced with the old add-on digital card on the twinQcs. In general, I have no problems with the unit.
Moreover, when you write a review for anything, it is really pretty scary. I don't know which is more scary, that you will trash a perfectly good unit because you got one that is flawed in some way, or that you will recommend people go out and buy a piece of junk, and end up helping people to waste their money. After that, I have a much greater appreciation for the dilemma that audio gear reviewers face. I've gotten a lot of emails and PM's from people who bought the unit based on my review, and it has been almost universally positive, agreeing that what I said was generally the truth. That always brings a smile to my face. Thanks again.-Richie
