Joe Meek upgrade question........please shed some light

Yeah, I've got an Audio Technica 4060 tube mic and have been using it with a Joe Meek VC3. I've enjoyed the sound, but Im tempted to upgrade the VC3 to a VC1Q......is it worth it? I read that the VC1Q uses a transformer based mic pre and the VC3 has a chip based mic pre. Someone please put me out of my misery!

ShakestheClown on this board had a joemeek vc6q and upgraded to a vc1q, and he had an improvement in sound, I use a joemeek vc6q and I love it.

But since you already have a the awesome joemeek sound, why don't you also look into getting a diff brand. THe mindprint envoice and the Art pro are awesome, so is the dbx 586 and they are tube based.
