interesting reggae version. I won't get in mix details, being a cover, and will just enjoy it for what it is. I do find the the singing to be a tad "animated" for my tastes, and the drum beat seems a tad straight for a good reggae groove...but hey...what do I know?

I quite liked the song. I really liked the ring in the snare. The style of sounds seems to hang together very well.

If I was pressed to offer constructive critisism....

Maybe the vocals are a little too far forward ?
I also thought the Hi-Hat sound was a bit flat - not much texture.
It's hard to tell with phones on but I thought perhaps the bass could have had a fatter sound.
You could improve the song with a few more more words if your
feeling adventurous - It's a bit monotonous.

Still a better sound than anything I've ever done.

Good Stuff

I've been listening to this over an hour. Nice groove. You're getting better at this recording thing. :)

I like the instumentation on this one. The vocals need to sit back in the mix a tad bit. I like that snare sound and a nice clean guitar tone as well. I am interested in knowing what your setup is. Are you recording a guitar amp or using something like a POD?? Live drums or canned?? What are you recording on?? Give me the details because I like your sound.

listened to the remix. nice job..but my above comments would still apply. going from memory...this one would seem to have a better EQ balance, seem fuller, etc...all that good stuff....but you probably didn't change that stuff, now that I've said that!!!

I think the song "fools in love" sounds pretty dope. the vocals don't sound completly in the mix though. good job

A high compliment indeed!

Thanx for the kind words.
Ok...
I record to a Yamaha MD-8 8 Track Minidisc recorder.
For bass, I use an '89 Fender Jazz with EMG's into a Bass POD into a JoeMeek VC1Q and RNC.
For guitar, I use a '95 Fender Mexican Strat (modded with Vintage Noiseless pickups) into a POD into the VC1Q and RNC.
Vocals are through a Studio Projects C1 condensor mic thru the VC1Q and an RNC.
Drums are a Zoom RT-323 drum machine (Funk Kit 1 for this tune) into a JoeMeek SC2.2 compressor into a RNC.
I LOVE this drum machine!
Entire mix thru a RNC (Supernice mode, 2:1, -3dB of gain reduction)
with Crane Song dither CD to a Alesis MasterLink at 24 bit/ 88.2 khz.
Edited on a Mac with Peak.
Effects are 2 Alesis Midiverb 4's.
In 1 rack in the corner of my bedroom!

I just reposted this song here,

http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/...tefn=RootSite.xml&aff=consumer&cty=US&lang=en

as it was remixed with a wahwah guitar solo added.

I love it that you're not sure if it's an amp or a POD,
drums or samples.
That is my goal.
To make the listener wonder.
That is the highest compliment you could give me.
Thank you, kind sir.
Peace.

King Elvis is such a cool name...

Played with the bass EQ.
Left a better space for everything else.
Very perceptive.
Peace.

I like mine very much.
You have to play with it to get what you want, just like any amp.
I love the way it records.
Experiment.
I bet you'll fall in love with it like I did.
Peace.
