Hi im new to the forum and new to recording properly, I've played guitar for a few years now and just recently got together with a bassist and we've started recording using garage band on my Ipad using the microphone function
Couldn't get the sound quite right, either his amp was too loud or mine was too loud so most of our first jam session was spent moving amps around
Then I remembered I had a mixing board in my loft so I decided to dig it out and see if everything still worked which it does and I made a couple of recordings while learning to use it and also found out I can plug it straight into my ipad with an adaptor
So the plan is to use it to record jam sessions by plugging from the headphone jack into the board for each amp, but then I realised in going to need a lot more jack cables
What cables are best to use for recording?
I was planning on just getting a bulk of cable and ends and then just make them but I have no idea about cables
Help please?????

Seeing that your setup is very basic, it doesn't really matter. Whatever you find at your local music store will be good enough. A few years ago I bought a bunch of George M-cables but it didn't even make a tiny difference to my sound.

The weak points in your signal chain are probably the mixing board and definitely the iPad input A/D converters, so like dainbramage says, the cables don't matter.
