Hi, I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

This is sort of alternative synth pop. I made this with Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3. Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks,
David

(It's the first one. Should auto-play)

Pretty cool, I like the synth work. Its catchy too. I think the mix is a bit muddy, meaning too much stuff in one area. Its hard to judge on myspace with their crappy sound. It would help if the drums could be panned wider, just think wider in general. Also, there are a lot of mid frequency sounds competing with each other, panning and eq should help that.

The next song is also very catchy, some nice stuff.:)

Thanks much, DavidK! It's been about a month since I worked on this song, and having some distance from it I noticed the muddy mix, too. I wanted to see what you all thought before I go in and start shifting things :)

Thanks again...

Cool tune - I listened a few times and this tune grew on me each time. It's nicely original, familiar but unique...

I think it might be the bass guitar that is clouding up the mix a bit too. When the vocals are in the lower range, they seem to struggle for definition against that bass.

Drums sound good, lead guitar is good too. The vocals are nicely done and the arrangement is cool....

Thanks ido1957! Coming from you, that is great to hear. I will see if I can fix some of that low end going on. The thing about Guitar Tracks is I can't seem to mix as on-the-fly as other programs. It's just not natural to use a pull-down menu to access the EQ section. Once I have this set of songs done, I'll have to look into a more advanced program.

Thanks again for the kind words and feedback.

Nice work Mistur.

Not really my kind of thing, but I thought it was very well arranged. I agree that there is a bit too much going on in the lower-mid area, but a pretty good mix nonetheless. I especially liked all of the the little pauses and breaks in the drums. The synths sound cool.

Thanks heatmiser! I look forward to tackling the EQ issues this weekend.

Typing as listening... nice rhythm and atmosphere. I dig the guitar line that comes in here and there, very catchy. I agree that the bass is muddier during the low verse, so maybe try EQing the bass differently for different parts so you don't lose too much of the impact on other sections. Cool tune

Thanks much, SnakeDog! Could you tell me what you mean by the low verse? Or should I just fix the low end in all the verses?

Thanks again, man...

Sure, added you as a myspace friend. Just those small sections where you start singing the verses low from like :29 to :45. After that when the vocals go high they don't seem to interfere as much (just based on my monitoring headphones) Cheers.

Cool tune. I like it.

Yea the vox are hard to hear. The keys sound.. I dunno, lacking compression at times? Maybe a performance thing.

I like the drony guitar sound.

Thanks again, SnakeDog, and thanks to you, too, VSpaceBoy. I will take all of this into consideration when I remix this weekend. It's great to have some solid feedback to target problem areas. I really appreciate everyone's input.
