maybe Ive been listening to it too much but is the bass loud enough??

KC....

The bass track is late!!!

Please advance it until it sounds poppin' right: it's late..... a fraction of a second; and it sounds like I'm stoned!!!

The bass is loud....but it kinda fits with the boom in the cans....listening on phones.
But, most of all, it has to be aligned!!!!

Must be why it sounds like a jam!!

What happened was I lost the original platform, and retrieved the bass track 'mix' from saved audio, reloaded the new platform, and aligned it by ear to the first mix...with the bass I previously recorded on your mp3 . I didn't get it right. When I extended start to zero, well.....it's fooked!

If necessary, I will d'load the 'sans bass' track again, and align it myself, and re-send.
Sorry, mate.

i maybe nudged it before i converted it???

gimme a minute

it might have been me J, I trimmed down the drums at the beginning and might have done it then....

does it sound better now? seems to work for me...

I reloaded the original sans bass mp3....it's late from zero, as it sits on my platform. That is, there's a 'pre-tag' before beat one, of 217 thousanths. [ms] slipped my notice.....I never set the 'nome....or it would have been obvious.

That's the misalignment I sent back.

I've re-aligned...ready to send again.

Let me check what u got...and I'll sent an mp3 of what I got.....gotta sober up the bass and guitar!!

Oh yeah, at 77.02 sec, the first guitar chord strike should be slipped back a bit to meet da beat! I just made the edit.

Snand by!

The guitar gatta be advanced a bit, too. Lagging.

I'm sending a 1mb sample of the first quarter..for comparison. If I re-send...no telling if the alignment will be right on your machine....assuming I zero the original file.

I sounded like a refugee from a cheezy top 40 wedding band! With a customary BAC of .30 [ok...I resemble that remark...]

actually looking at the waveforms on their own show theyre off just a little...Ive re-alinged them and I stick the mix back up once its finished...let me know if its there as your ears are better than mine

Yeah ...just scootch the guit track so the bass ang guit are playing together...should be ok.....the bass sounds about as right as it could be in the latest version.

Whew!

weird...because they were out by exactly the same amount I never noticed, I just thought it was a little loose..

sounds much better but I might go through it in more detail tomorrow just in case...but sounds much better now

sorry Jeff....I think my brain works with a 10ms latency anyway :D

btw the more I listen to your guitar work the more I like it....you can fairly fly! really great work Jeff...

Only through the miracle of digital recording...

When I can afford better equipment...like a good Les Paul and a major tube amp....I'll get better sounds. My Strat is one of the less good ones...ash body '72. No sustain. Harsh. Pingy. Not even a great amp can make it sound good.

Thanks again fer letting me hang in the garage!! And I've been reading your stuff on synths studiously. Very helpful, conceptually and mechanically.

Some cut/paste/slide/cleanup/EQ/and some other voodoosneakthiefcheating ways... and a little small room ambience in the master. It's my birthday. Smoking my last cigarette ever, looking forward to eating fruits and veggies for the rest of my life. This was a fun way to spend it.

Then, there's always New Years'.

happy birthday ol' man :D

i quit smoking last year and havent eaten meat for 28 years....but Ill live to 110 lol, so welcome to the club... no salt, gym five times a week, drink within medical guidlines...my how fun life is :D

I may host your mix or use it to tidy up mine if you dont mind? Lt Boob is threatening to put some sax on it so it may not be finished yet....if he plays over your guitar you may have to challenge him to a dual!

btw your tone sounds pretty good to me for a strat...I thought it may need fattened up but sounds good even as just one track...my only problem with other people playing is im loath to alter it to much with compression etc...probably a confidence thing on my side...but I also dont want to ruin it :drunk::D

Do what you want with the sounds. They're yours!

There are some good sections for another feature. Just envelope-down the passages where I comp with the keys...or edit stuff out. I figured I should leave space for synth or someting else. A sax playing harmonies with some of the unison lines...or in lieu of guitar...would be really nice!

I listened to the tune for a few hours. Some of the guit parts could use some level control.

The chick's voice could go up.

That drum program rocks. I think the bass part came out real good. The guitar tone?? Not so good.

Anyway, that was fun. I love the tune.

I want a cigarette.:spank:

ps, I'm only 52. I lied when I signed up.

Hey guys I've been following this for the last couple days to see how it comes out and I'll have to say it is damned good. You play one hell of a bass and guitar Jeff and the programmed drums and other stuff in there Earl are great as well, it all fits together really well. I hope to be watching the Weather Channel one day and hear this song come up. LOL.

Trump

52? my arse, you're in denial Jeff :)

i put the chicks voice up, compressed the guitar a bit more, took a little off the HFs, and gave it a little volume automation just to balance it more..

I know you know what youre talking about with this stuff but I love the guitar..really raw sounding which goes better with the rockier drums

Thanks man...I like it too even though I dont know anything about jazz...the weather channel huh? i hope to retire on my part of the royalties :D

Heh... This rocks. The guitar / bass work is very well done, and the drums sound like someone is back their havin' the time of their life on em'. They don't sound programmed at all. I really like the flappy sounds, too. Adds tons of personality to the mix.

Great job.

Thanks again man....well if a great drummer like you likes them then Im chuffed...the kicks a bit much but I just cant turn it down and Jeffs playing is so vibey, even though its not generally a genre I like, I can help but dig this...garage jazz :)
