I just got a Delta-44 and put it in..It works WONDERS with playing and recording music..the recording through my Behringer B-2 I couldnt be more happy with..

However the issue comes with Video Gaming.
While no other place has this problem come up.

It does it with many games: Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 11 etc.
It seems to run smooth for about 2-3 minutes and then it distorts insanely..the music and sound effects start to distort and it nearly reaches static..I cant figure out the issue..

if anyone could help I would appreciate it...
thanks

I don't understand how it plays at all.

Most games that I am familiar with use MIDI files to generate the background music (although they might possibly use wave files for sound effects - I'm not completely sure).

Anyway, your Delta has no midi synthesizer in it, and therefore can't be used to play midi files. You need to get a second card - such as an SB Live - for this purpose.

Most newer games use actual audio (wavs) for background music these days, MIDI was SO 1990's ;) But as far as WC3 and FFXI go, I dunno.

Most Direct X games do use audio rather than midi now. Unreal Tournament actually uses Ogg Vorbis!

It may be that the Delta cannot actually handle the sample-rate used in the game (Which could be quite low) or that it would prefer a higher DMA buffer setting.

I gave up trying to get my Audiophile2496 (same system as the Delta44) to work with games and installed a Santa Cruz as well.

ok yes that makes sense I suppose..my Compaq came with a built-in soundcard..Realtek I believe and since I installed the drivers for the Delta..I can't activate the other soundcard..of course I disable the drivers for the delta..even uninstall them..I tried reinstalling the drivers for the realtek..no luck

any help with this would be appreciated as well

thanks alot!

yea, def use your delta 44 for recording only... its not good as your primary playback for games and what not.

Yeah...I'm still not sure how to switch back to my Realtek built in card...Its not showing up under Devices...i would like to be able to do this without having to taking the soundcard out everytime I goto play a game..

I dont get it..hmm

you need to set your default sound device for windows to your regular sound card and then you need to have your Delta card set to be the main device in whatever program you are running.

I see...thanks

im just not sure how to do that..ive been trying..hehe..

thanks for the help though i appreciate it

if you have AIM and your willing to help my aim is SacriFICEmcee

thanks :)

I keep two cards as well in my computer. I can't select a default card in control panel so what I do is disable the recording card when I want to play a game or listen to CD's.

When I want to record I enable my recording card and disable my gaming card "my computer/right click/hardware/..."

You may have to restart for the change to take effect. I wouldn't use your recording card for gaming, you might damage it.

not sure how you would damage it, but yea, I wouldn't use it either... let me know if the stuff I told you on AIM worked man!

hey man..naw i couldnt get it it to show up...

im gonna try some other things...
