Just finished mastering my newest song. I recorded it in Adobe Audition. For guitars I used a Fernandes Dragonfly with a Digitech RP50. For the drums and bass I used my Casio WK3000. The cymbals were real sound clips of recorded cymbals programmed into my keyboard. All of the instruments were performed by me. I also did some vox... I don't really like the way I sound... For mastering I used T-Racks. I'd really appreciate it if you'd give it a listen and tell me what you think. Is it safe to slap it on a CD yet? Is it fit for air play? Here's the link:

Thanks for listening.

i'd redo the vocal track, and maybe narrow the stereo image on the drums.. it's kinda distracting.

My goodness that sounds huge and odd.

I agree that the vocals sound unusual. Some pitch problems too, or maybe just wrong harmonies! Sorry dude, that's just how it is.

Having the lead vocal panned so far to the left is a little distracting (IMO of course). The "echo" back up vocals need to come up a little bit too. The guitars sound HUGE, nice job

The guitars are great - nice and big and fat. The drums are good - I don't find the spread a problem just IMHO. Yes the echo vocals could be up a lot more - that's a good effect. "And they come to be" section is a great effect. I have to agree (unfortunately) :o the vocals could be redone - they are a little pitchy in certain places. Other than the vocals I really like the song/mix/masteringjob you've done on this. :)

Thanks for listening.

I totally agree that the vocals could be redone. The only problem is... I'm really shy when it comes to singing and I record in my basement where everyone can hear me upstairs. It just feels like everyone stops what they're doing and are listening and judging me whenever I sing. I can raise the echo... But the pitch problems... I would like to re-record the vocals but I just wish I had somewhere else to do them.

I appreciate the compliments on the guitar sound. It's not bad having come through a pedal (with no EQ adjustment at all).

The drum panning, unfortunately, cannot be fixed. The pan effect came stock in the keyboard and there is no way I can change it. Unless I totally re-record the bass, snare, hi hat, & cymbals... Then record the toms on a seperate track. I really don't feel like doing that. Besides, it doesn't really bother me that much.

The mastering was probably the easiest part! I always thought that mastering was some hell of a duty and then I find T-Racks where all you do is press a button! How simple is that?! I totally recommend this program for the mastering-challenged! Loads of presets and very user friendly.

If you can't retrack, I think adobe audition 1.5 has an automatic pitch control deal kinda' like autotune. Just tell it what key your vocal's in, and it'll iron out some of the problems. Obviously, retracking is best, but it's not always an option, eh?

I completely agree with doing something with the vocals, but that songs sounds HUGE!!! I really like it! My only other suggestion if you are looking for radio play, you may want to trim down a bit shorter than it currently is. Around here most radio songs barely hit 3:30 let alone go over 5 minutes.

The vocals don't trouble me. However, whatever you did in mastering, I think there were some unfortunate choices. The low end is a peaky, tubby mess. Sure, that gets you your -11.5dBRMS, but the cost is too high. If that is T-Racks "one-button" mastering, I would recommend never hitting that button again.

It's a good track . . . just don't use that button!
