I AM NEW TO RECORDING IVE BEEN READING MANY THINGS ON EQUIPMENT NOW U GUYS GOTTA TEL ME IF THIS IS A GOOD SETUP TO BUY:

TASCAM 424 MKIII
SM-57
STUDIO PROJECTS B1
AKG HEAPHONES

I AM GOING TO BE RECORDING DRUMS WITH THE SM 57 ADN THE STUDIO PROJECTS

WOAH!

Deja Vu.

It's a perfectly fine set up. Get a DMP3 as well (you can use one side to provide Phantom Power to the B1 and the other as a Bass or Guitar D. I.)

Now, stop yacking about it and DO IT.

And disengage the Caps Lock.

YEAH

MY COMPUTER IS BROKEN
U REALLY THINK ITS A GOOD SETUP MY BUDGET IS 500 SO I WOULDNT HAVE ENOUGH TO GET A PREAMP

YEAH, AGAIN...

I THINK THAT GEAR LIST IS A GREAT LIST FOR A BEGINNER, AND I'D SKIP ON THE PREAMP.

IF YOU REALLY WANT ADVANCED MIXING CAPABILITY, OVER & ABOVE THE 424MKIII, AND YOU ARE NOT AGAINST SHOPPING USED GEAR, THEN THE TASCAM 246 WILL DO MORE COMPLEX AND VALUABLE SIGNAL ROUTING TASKS DURING RECORDING.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2-BUSS OR 4-DIRECT RECORDING OF THE 424MKIII AND ACTUAL 4-BUSS RECORDING OF THE 246 IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO THINK TWICE ABOUT, & IN A LOT OF WAYS IS WORTH MAKING THE TRADE.

ANYWAY, TO GET BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POINT,...

YOUR NEW GEAR SELECTION IS A GOOD LIST OF STUFF, AND YOU CAN DO QUITE A BIT WITH THAT ALONE, CONSIDERING YOU'RE TRYING TO STAY ON A BUDGET.

THANX, BYE!

Erm... Reel.

He needs Phantom Power for the B1. The 424 doesn't provide PP.

And could everyone please stop shouting.

I have an headache.

MARK'S RIGHT. KID, I'D SKIP ON THE CONDENSOR MIC THAT REQUIRES PHANTOM, & GET 2 OR 3.

SM57'S OR MAYBE AN SM58.

/DA

o ok

so ur saying my mics should be
2 sm 57's ?

Get two 58's.

Then you can use them for vocals and unscrew the covers and use them for your drums or guitar cabs or whatnot just like a 57.

...and if you can afford it, definately get maybe a 3rd one so you can close mic the snare. I think you can route the channels on that thing so you don't need 3 whole tracks...I don't have one so I don't know, but then you will get cleaner sounding drums...then get a kick mic when you get some money and you are set.

which is better for my situaton?

which one is better 57 or 58
what u mean unscrew the top?

Well, when you sing into a 57 every single B, F, P, etc is going to give you a shitty woofout because there is no pop filter. The 58 unscrews in two places, the handle and at the joint of the ball and handle. It just removes the windscreen/pop filter thing. It changes the sound in a VERY minor means.....but you know audiophiles....:o....well, you will.....:D

Here are all the Tascam Portastudio 424s currently available on US ebay.

Here's all the 246s up for auction.

Another possibility might be one of these

Or something similar.

guys

i am against buying used things on ebay
I ONLY LIKE TO BUY NEW THINGS

MY BUDGET IS LIKE 530 DOLLARS

DOES THE 58 COME WITH THE FILTER? OR DO I HAVE TO BUY IT AND HOW MUCH

How do you feel about buying used stuff from a Music Gear Store? There must be some near you.

As for the SM58: it looks like this

sm58.jpg

As you can see it already has a grill and windshield included.

You might be interested in one of these two packages from 8th Street Music and Musicians Friend .

The MF package costs $499, but does include the SM58. So you'll have to save up a bit more for an SM57. The 8th Street package is cheaper at $469 but doesn't include free delivery.

I ONLY SEE THE MIC I DONT SEE ANY FILTERS

I ONLY SEE THE MIC I DONT SEE ANY FILTERS OR ANYTHING ELSE

The wiremesh ball on the end IS the filter.

If you're thinking of a Pop filter you don't need one with this type of mic as it's already got one built in.

You remind me of someone.

Now, who am I thinking of?

OOO OK I GOT YOU
