Okay, so I seriously need some help. I got everything needed to record, which included pop filter, stand, Audio Technica 4040 mic, Audio Technica ATHM40fs headphones, and M-Audio Mobile PREUSB audio interface.

Okay, so headphones are good. I hear beat out of both earphones right, but when I try to record the vocals, they only come out of left ear (if plugged in Ch.1 mic) and only out of right ear (if plugged in Ch.2). Any suggestions? And there is no pan or anything on the interface, and its not in the software Im using, cause even when Im not using software, and just talking into it with the headphones volume turned up and stuff, I only hear myself in one ear, depending on where the mic is plugged in, depends on what ear it comes out of. Someone please help me...

There is nothing wrong with the mic. The mic is a mono input. There must be a setting in the way you are monitoring. Please let us know all your signal path.

Is it mic to Mobile per to computer?
If so there has to be a software applet either with your recording software or the M-Audio unit that allows adjustments in the monitoring. It probably has all inputs panned hard right and left where you would have to adjut the pant to the middle so it goes into both ears.

I use 2 Delta1010s and I know the if you double click on the M-Audio applet it brings up a little monitor mixer. (Assuming you have loaded the drivers).

Thanks for the quick Reply Tom. However, I have the drivers installed, and this is what I have my stuff set too in the M-audio applet.

Also, yes the mic is plugged into the MAudio Mobile PRE Audio Interface, then the interface is plugged in via USB to my computer.

What recording program are you using?

I'd imagine there's one of two problems. Either:-

1) The USB interface is like the M-Audio Delta 44, in that the input and output is limited to mono and as such you have to record on a mono basis from either input 1 or input 2.

or

2) You're settings in your recording program are not set up correctly.

Sorry I can't help more but thats my 2 cents.

Well, I don't even have to be using a recording program, when I just go speak into the mic I only hear myself in left ear, or right ear, but not both. I don't really understand what you mean about the input and output and mono....

Use an adaptor (or adapter) (???) in the output of any channel. In input, you plug your normal cable (In my case,an audiophile 192, P10).In the output, use an adapt(e/o)r (!!!) and 2 P10 (or the kind of your input hardware cables).

(In your mixer /(or phone mixer) you will hear 2 "voice" channels (L and R).

That doesnt make any sense to me Ciro. Thanks for the reply, but this is how its setup.

I have the M-Audio Mobilepre. I have a mic, thats plugged into the mobile pre. I have headphones plugged into mobile pre. And the mobile pre is plugged into computer. Why doesnt it work?

Do you know why doesnt make any sense?´cause i,m tottaly wrong (sorry)
:D (I use this "tricK"of cables because my conversor doesn´t has headphone input)....

I saw Mobile driver interface ...

Try down the faders of USB record (or no) and use only the the direct monitoring (note that has a "left mono" option, propably what you needs). (I look at M-audio home, this Mobile pré has zero latency monitoring)!

In the M-Audio software monitoring screen, there should be a checkbox for either mono or stereo. Click mono.

Thanks Srubs. I did that, and then I could hear through both. But when I played back what I recorded, It was just left again....and the pan is in the middle in my recording softwares, i've tried 3.

You need to be recording to a MONO track in your software, too. One source, one mic, one channel = mono.

Thanks Scrubs! I finally got it....muahahah you are awesome. Repppedddd!
