Is there a nearfield that would give Dynaudio BM6P a run for it's money for less $$$?

I'm about to pick up a pair of dyn passives but sure would rather save some money if I can find a monitor that would give similar results for less money, they're $800 for the passives. Is this wishful thinking or is there any competition?

How about another monitor in same price range that can compete in general? I'm in a search mode and would like to get some other ideas before making final decision.

I have been a Dynaudio user for a year and a hlaf or so now. In my opinion, nothing else I have heard in a similar price range even comes close. The only ones I can think of that do would be Quested or Truth Audio. Both however are more expensive. I recently made the switch to BM15's, but mostly because they are larger and will handle my control room better. My control room is 14 wide by 19 deep, and the monitors are throwing the 19 foot length. There was not a drastic difference between the 2, but a noticable one. Mostly the difference is the even distribution at the back of the room (where many clients spend a lot of time).

There are other great monitors if you want to spend quite a bit more. Many people like the ADAM monitors, but you have to spend quite a bit more to get into a set of ADAM's that will give the dynaudio's a good run. After going through all sorts of other monitors finding that right match, I am 110% satisfied with my decision to go Dynaudio. The fact that there are a lot of Dynaudio's out there, but not very many for sale used should be a sign:D

Go for it, I honestly don't think you will ever regret it.

Yorkville YSM1P's have very similar tonality and detail to the Dynaudio BM5A's. I've never heard the 6 series though.

Obviously I prefer the Dynaudios to the Yorkvilles, but their similarity makes me appreciate the Yorkvilles for the price even more than I do otherwise, which is a lot.

I like the BM6s and im currently using BM15 also. Coincidink...! Guess not really.

bleyrad - Thanks for the info the BM5 to Yorkville comparison.

But i know the BM6s dont sound anything similiar to the BM5s and the BM5s are considered to be pretty Hi Fi style.

I guess I don't need much convincing...I'm going with the BM6P. Thanks! :)

You may wanna check out Truth Audio Passives they are 600 or 700 and supposedly the poor man's Adams
