just without keys? I'm looking for a sampler/sequencer, but dont have a lot of $ to spend right now.. and I've been reading too many different opinions on the MPC's, which is 'better' / more logical to buy.. so to minimize the buying and re-selling process, I think it'd just be wise for me to wait until I have enough to get the 4000 (if it turns out to be a winner) instead of experimenting with the 2 or 3 only to want to get the 4 later on.... and in the meantime cop an ASR-X, which I've not only been reading many good things about, but is also much cheaper than a MPC2xl. Any opinions on this piece?

I had an ASR-X before I got my MPC 3000... and the only thing I miss is the ASR's effects... those are sick. The asr-x sequencer is a joke but hey I learned how to get what I wanted out of it and as much as people complain about it, it comes down to knowing how to work your machine.
