With Follow conditions:
Talented Musicians
Experienced Recording Engineer
High end preamp like Avalon AD2022
Rode K2 Mic
Maxing out Plugin with the #3 card

All that is left is the box. Is the box
capable of recording and mastering a song that would be able to be radio friendly?

Why not? Provided that you have a great sound going in, and as long as the engineer knows what he's doing, and has a vision of what the band wants. Why Not? I've personally heard great recordings from a VS-880 with nothing more than a Shure SM-58 for a mic. No fancy pre's. It's more "the sound going in", than which machine you use. Now, are you going to get that Nashville Studio "Major Label" sound? Probably not, but then again, your not investing $50,000 in your cd, and another $10 grand in Mastering either. Can it be good enough to compete with other bands on your local radio stations "local licks" night. Yes, definately! Unless your signed to a major label, local licks is probably the only airplay your realistically going to get, other than internet stations such as VS Planet Radio, or others. But don't let that stop you from doing what you love. That's what it's all about anyway!

Abe.
