Is pumping bad for a compressor?

My only hardware compressor is an RNC. I like to use it modestly when recording my band. But I also make electronica music as a side project. So I decided to try and use it at super heavy compression settings (running my drum machine's kick drum through the side chain). I have been experimenting with heavy pumping sounds ala Daft Punk. Is it bad for a compressor to use it under these settings (long term)? What I mean is, will this cause the compressor to create more audible compression at lower settings as well?

it wont hurt the compressor, pumping is just the compressor slaming down the signal .

No, but hearing it all the time might get annoying though. To me,it can be a cool effect, when used sparingly.
