Is my diaphragm damaged??

Okay peoples....how can I tell if my diaphragm is damaged on my mic? I have an AT 4033 and I am recording vox with it, through a tube MP. It is very sensitive and I don't think it used to be that way...it distorts very badly with the slightest boost in the singers energy. None of my levels are clipping, and I run with and without compression and same problem occurs....any suggestions on what I can do, or how I can tell if my mic has gone bad??

Could be the Tube MP

It seems to have a tendency to clip before you notice the color change in the diode... Several people have reported this problem with the Tube MP.
