Is it worth getting a Beyer M88?

For kick mics, I got the 421, ATM25, D112, and I am not really happy with the kick sound. The d112 is close, but not enough thump and body.

Would the Beyer m88 be a good buy?

I have read on this forum that the m88 and 421 are almost identical in sound... can anyone clarify this?

Thanks

The M88 sounds quite different from the MD421, the M88 is a hyper cardioid and it has a very tight sound.

If the D112 is close to what you want but you want more beef you should try the good old D12.

Try an Audix D6. It's so easy to get a good kick sound with that mic.

The M88 and the 421 are very different. I much prefer the M88 on most non-drum sources, but on kick I dunno, I use my B52

I guess to each bassdrum it's own BEST kick mic...

I will try the m88 and compare it to all my kick mics.

Also, do you think the m88 would work great on female vocals (power metal) and other types of vocals and voice over???

Thx

Yes, absolutely.
