IS IT HARD TO MIX A SONG WITH 8 TRACKS???????????????

Nope.it is one of the easier things you can do in life!
In fact it is so easy that I dont even worry about how things
sound while I am tracking.I'll just fix it in the mix if it sounds like shit.You will hear a lot of people around here spouting off this catch phrase:"garbage in,garbage out".dont believe it,you can fix anything in the mix.(and it's easy)
Having good equipment makes it a little bit easier.Radio shack
consoles are pretty much the industry standard.They also make top notch mics.(neumann has been stealing designs from them for years.)
Also remember that it is way better to mix using headphones than it is using monitors.I recommend koss head phones
because they seem to compliment the radio shack gear.
I run a small outfit and cant afford a second engineer,so I trained
Toby,my three year old yorky-poo,to tweak mixes.(Dont laugh,
I hear zappas poodle used to handle all the editing chores)I've
got to hand to the little son of a bitch;he's a natural.If there is
something that is wrong in the mix he is right on top of it!His
head cocks sideways and his little ears stand up,and then that little fucker is paws to the wall fixing and mixing.Amazing to watch him work.

In all seriousness, it can range from not hard to increadibly freakin' hard, but it's never really "easy". It all depends on how well recorded the material is. If everything is recorded beautifully, you can pretty much just throw the faders up and you're most of the way home. If there are "problems" in recording (and there always is in home recording ), then mixing will stray closer to the "increadibly freakin' hard" end of things.

What, throwing 8 faders up isn't easy? That is a mix no matter what. A good, musical mix is another topic.

Hell people don't mix the stereo buss summing amps do all the mixing.

It depends alot on your skill level/experience/patience, but when your starting out, even when it's recorded right, might have problems with over or under doing things, just takes time.

How much does a radio shack console cost.

My goodness. Trax, track down a mastering engineer around your way and ask him/her to advise you(be very polite as these guys usually charge lots of money for their time and you might be wanting it for free). The mastering engineer will be happier to advise you than perhaps a local recording engineer would, as you will be of no financial threat to the mastering engineer.
