Is it best to Mic a bass amp, or DI?

If you are recording a Rock band and want a nice bass sound, do you DI the bass or use a Mic with the Bass Cab??

for a punchy clear sound.

There are no rules.

If you mic it and it sounds good, use that. If you DI it and it sounds better, use that. It's all about knowing your tools and when to use them.

If you have the track space, two bass tracks panned sounds cool, one DI and one mic'ed
