arguably, i guess you could say that.
the reason cool edit iis easier to use than, say sonar

, is that it has way fewer features. if you want a quick program for basic mutitrack recording, a few effects, and a simple mixing interface, then cool edit is a great program. if you want to have extensive midi editing capabilities, softsynth support via rewire etc, then you would probably need something more.
i still use cool edit as a wave form editor. a great little program
