Is anyone using Win2k with an audiophile 2496?...

I'm still running Win98 and my M-Audio audiophile is a great card with it. I've heard that, at least in the past, the audiophile hasn't played too nicely with Win2k. I just installed Sonar and Sonar is supposed to be ideal for Windows 2000. I want to upgrade to Win2K but I'm worried about the behavior of the sound card...Anyone have any experience with this config?...

Nope....but maybe you can tell me something...

I do run win2k and I really like it for speed/stability, but no Audiophile in my system (yet). I currently have a Midiman 2044, which I did manage to get working under WinME even though the driver support stops at Win98.

Anyway....I do like the 2044's sound quality even at 20-bit dithered down to 16, but I'm looking for support for (you guessed it) win2k and latency better than 68 ms. I know the Audiphile would have better latency and I'm pretty confident that it will run well under 2k based on what I've heard. But, I have one little question about the card, does its MIDI interface have any better timing than your average SB Live or equivalent consumer sound card? If not, I'm inclined to either stick with my current card and get a real MIDI interface or get a Delta 44 or 66 and a MIDI interface.

I know the implication of a more professional card like the Audiphile is that it would have better MIDI timing, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually noticed the difference, if there is one.

Unfortunately, I've never used any card other than the audiophile for midi so I can't compare it to the SB. (I was NEVER able to get the midi interface on my SB to work right, hence the audiophile). That said, I haven't noticed any discernable latency problems using the audiophile. I'm very pleased with the card for both my midi and audio quality. Sorry, hope this helps somewhat...
