As part of a contingency plan for an upcoming remote project where there's a risk of higher-end audio gear becoming delayed or lost, I'd like to ask if it's actually possible to get what most clients would consider 'professional quality' results using an iPhone 16 with a Shure SM7db or Neumann u87 and whatever additional gear/peripherals you'd suggest to wring out whatever the potential is.

Thanks very much.

You can easily capture a good vocal - but you’ll need an Audio Interface - I think the Apogee Duet 3 is a great choice - and solid phantom power for an u87 - which you can get from the apogee. - whether its professional or not is up to your skill set - Can’t you rent the same gear you are expecting?

Clients who ‘know’ would get it. However, clients who only see money, will equate ANY phone with cheap. Swap the phone for a MacBook and that would get over that, and genuinely be a more useful backup.
