Interesting google trick

I've just discovered that google is far better at unit conversion than I had imagined (after seeing someone ask it "14GB / 30 days in kbps".

So for those who are interested in calculating tape times from the length and speed, the following query works:

2400 feet / 15 inches/sec in minutes

(Sadly it does not recognise 'IPS' )
 
Hey that's neat, I never thought to Google a conversion, great tip!
 
That hurts to see 2400 feet of tape go in that timeframe. If you look at it that way it looks more expensive then you might realize.
 
It may be 32 minutes at a premium price, but remember, it's not 32 minutes to "get it right" the first time, it's 32 minutes to get it right over many, many passes.

Just think... for a 2500' reel of 1" ATR tape at 15ips, you're spending about 15 bucks just to run a few minutes of test tones onto it :D
