I'm thinking about getting a pair of Avalon U5s to run my keyboards through for tracking. If I run the preamps into channels on my VM3100 mixer with the gain all the way down will I be completely bypassing the preamp of the VM3100? Also will I be crimping the performance of the U5 by having it travel through the converters of the VM3100?

Also how is it possible that I have 2 active monitors plugged into the same power strip and only 1 gets RF intereference? I've ruled out cables, outlets and placement. Is there possibly something wrong with the amp in the monitor with the intereference?

Thanks,

Stray

does that mixer have line or tape inputs?

those should bypass the preamp

Did you try unhooking everything leaving all cabling (incuding power) where it is and just reverse the L R position of the two Monitors?

Try that, if it's still on the same side then its not the monitors, if it switches sides it's in the monitor itself.

Try that and I have some more ideas to try next.
