I was looking for a good guitar sound for LIVE shows. After hearding various sugestions from people at homerecorording.com, greasluts, and recording.org. I decided instead of gogin for Lav mic I would install an actual mic for the purpose of being an internal acoustic mic.
I decided to go with the Alvarez ACM50 internal condensor mic. It was designed for my 600T MKII preamp in my Alvarez which has an aux input, and indepent gain knobs for each input (Peizo or Aux). The preamp also provides phantom power to the mic. Nice feature. Plus the mic only cost me 50 bucks shipped from Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta to here in MA. The guy was nice, and this was about 15 dollars less than most places before shipping.
Here some pics of the mic, install was fairly easy. I did take all the strings off, but I could have done it without doing that through the hole where the preamp is mounted. However my hands are just a hair too big. After experimenting with positions this one sounded the best.
Here are the sound clips
Piezo by itself
Internal Condensor by Itself
Both mixed together
Here were the settings I liked with both mics mixed. Phase button is pressed the rest are not on. After listening I shouldnt have pulled the high band down so much on the EQ for the piezo. The condenser is NOT run through the EQ, it is pre EQ, but the notch effects both sources. This is good to fight the feedback onstage.
Mic sounds pretty decent. Will defiantly make a big differance live.
Thanks for everyones suggestions
