Yo, here's another question for ya'll...when you write lyrics or make beats, what do you know you can listen to that would inspire you to come up with it off the top of the dome?

For me, I can listen to beats by Dre, Scott Storch, Alchemist, and Just Blaze for inspiration (and still come out with original shit).

As for lyrical content, I can listen to Kuniva and Swifty McVeigh from D12, Pac, Nas, some of my own shit, Jay-Z when it's not mainstream shit....his tracks that you don't hear on the radio are straight fire, Three 6 Mafia, Mystikal, and that's just when I wanna spit some evil shit.
 
I listen to the last 6 or 7 beats I made, then try to out-produce myself...it usually works. I just like to record whatever comes to me when im at the keyboard. Once I lay a drum track Im feelin, I can just visualize ways to flip the other sounds and get crazy with it. As for as vocal inspiration, I just stick to the beat Im writing to, I dont wanna hear anything else but that.

Yeah I get self inspired from my own stuff too, but sometimes it's good to have outside influences imho to get you amped up when you're having a dry spell.

Rarely, but sometimes, there're good tracks on MTV/radio (99 Problems, One Mic, I Can)

LOL... I think EVERYONE should strive to be there own favorite producer/artist! Just having that mindset opens the door for growth.

i git inspired to write ACID shit, when i hear some of the WACKEST SHIT like FRANCHISE BOYS, LAFFY TAFFY, ETC.
 
I'll tell you what really inspires me, but it is more relative to performing actual lyrics. I don't rap at all, I try to contribute to the game by singing. But my Mom passed about 2 years ago, when I think of her just looking down smiling, I get the urge to just do my thing. I close my eyes, tilt my head back, and just get in my own comfort zone, feel me? She was always the one pushing me to do something vocally, so I feel it's my duty!
I have recorded tracks in that mode that I can't duplicate. But it don't phase me neah bit, because it keeps coming back!
