Hello,

I have recently started working with another two gentlemen, and we are now a trio of singers. We wish to do some home recording, and I am in desperate need of an inexpensive Headphone distribution box which would incorporate four inputs w/individual volume controls. I just left Sweetwater.com, where they had two such units (Art & Samson) which were selling for about $50. I also saw that there were much more expensive ones (which I definitely cannot afford), and wondered if the lower-ended units would suffice nicely. Please inform as to your feelings, please.

I am assuming you mean 4 outputs (to phones) Th art works fine so long as you can get the gain you need out of it and the impedence of your headphones is relatively low.

Hey Peter - thanks for responding.

Yes, 4 outputs to cans is exactly what I am after. I have to be very honest and admit that I do not fuly understand this 'impedance' thing; I don't even know (at this point in time) what type of 'cans' will be utilized. All I know is that they will be the type which covers the whole ear. They will be unmatched, because each member will be using their own personal cans, and we are in need of something which would allow isolation of track-feedback into the mic.

don't worry too much about the impedence, Try the vic firth SIH1 isolation headphone They isolate abot 28db external noise thus-- pretty well isolating the sound from coming out as well. + for abot $50-60 they are reasonable.

I'd go with the Presonus HP4 $89. It's a little more expensive, but it doesn't crap out under load. :)

Thanks a lot. I just took a peek at it, and it appears to be everything that I am looking for. I have the Presonus tube pre (single channel) and have been very happy with that also. Thanks again for the 'heads-up' on this unit.

I just bought one from a member of this forum and it seems like a pretty decent little amp. If you have'nt already, consider getting at least one decent set of headphones in the $100 range. There's a big jump in sound quality from the cheapies to the $100 range phones.
